Darshan Education Foundation, Colombia, is running an Education for a Peaceful World Program in Bogota, Colombia. The program runs workshops for educators on topics such as meditation, peace in the family, communication, and spiritually centered leadership. They plan to hold workshops for parents in the future. They also organized forums on topics of peace and education.

Results of the implementation and experiences with the program in Bogotá:

Reflecting on what they learned since the program’s implementation in various schools, they came to the following conclusions that exemplify their experiences:

• Educational communities taught about meditation, presented ethical values practices at their schools, and verified the importance of offering peace projects to children during the first school years so they can explore and experience their spiritual being from the early stages of life;
• Identified the link between the program (EPW) and the work developed by the Ministry of Education in Colombia about social and citizenship competences to validate the relevance of the EPW program in the Colombian schools;
• Most of the schools we´ve been working with acknowledged the EPW program as an important and accessible alternative for students’ development that positively affects the quality of education and the school environment, transforming them into one that´s more peaceful and harmonious, and validating the effectiveness of integrating holistic pedagogical methods into the learning processes;
• Teachers and children meditating at schools resulted in improved communication between teachers and between teachers and children;
• The implementation of the EPW program also supported the development of side projects such as care for the environment, ecology, social behavior, recycling, etc.; and
• Cooperative relationships between the children, spontaneously helping one another, has been seen after the implementation of the program.
