Darshan Academy is actively engaged in multiple social causes and welfare activities. Here are a few recent highlights:
 
   
FEE CONCESSIONS
 
Every year Darshan Academy provides fee concessions to students who need financial help. Exemption in fee granted to students is reviewed from year to year after ascertaining eligibility for exemption and the student’s performance. Fee concession is granted up to a limit of 20% of the total number of students on the rolls of the school in all classes.
 
   
SCHOLARSHIPS
 
Students are awarded with a cash prize to motivate and honor their Yearly Performance.

• Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj Scholarship: It is an award to recognize merit in academic achievement.

The Scholarship is to the tune of:-
Classes I/II Rs. 3000/-
Classes III/V Rs. 3500/-
Classes VI to VIII Rs. 4000/-
Classes IX & XI Rs. 4500/-
Class X Rs. 5000/-
Class XII Rs. 6000/-

• Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj Scholarship: This is an award for all round Excellence.
The Scholarship is to the tune of Rs.6000/- and is awarded to students who show all round ex cellnce in academics as well as sports, cultural and social activities.
 
   
RUN FOR PEACE
 
   
The first “Run for Peace” was organized by Darshan Academy Devlali in the year 2008 to express their commitment to global peace and received an enthusiastic participation from 25 schools and senior citizens of the city to make it a grand success. Devlali’s “Run for Peace” has become an annual event with an ever increasing participation of schools from Devlali and Nasik. Peace Marches were organized by Darshan Academy Ambala, Kaithal, Jalandhar in the year 2010 to spread the message of peace across their cities
 
   
PRAYAS CLUB
 
   
Darshan Academy Meerut runs a ‘Prayas Club.’ The purpose is to help the needy and at the same time inculcate the virtue of selfless service and feeling of empathy in our students. Students are frequently taken to Jyoti Niwas/Prem Niwas (Orphanage) and old age home to donate basic commodities like eatables, medicines, clothes, porridge etc. Students also donate blankets and old clothes to poor & needy homeless people during winter. Apart from this genuine cases of fee defaulters (i.e economically unable to pay for school fee are also helped by Prayas Club.
 
   
ECO CLUB
 
   
Eco Club is formed with an objective to keep the environment clean & green. To achieve this objective the following activities were organized:
  • Special assembly on the topic ‘Save Environment’. Students recited beautiful slogans & poems. They also presented a street play on ‘Chipko Movement’.
  • 16th September is marked as `International Day for Preservation of Ozone Layer’. Students were made aware of the various causes of depletion of ozone layer and the different ways of preventing the same. Students prepared talks, self composed poems, and took part in a quiz & role play based on the depletion of ozone layer.
  • The Department of Environment and Forests organized an ‘Eco Club Meet 2010’ in National Bal Bhawan from 12th Jan to 15th Jan 2010. Smt. Sheila Dixit, the Chief Minister of NCT Delhi, was the chief guest for the occasion. In this meet models & posters related to climatic changes, bio-diversity and waste management were projected. Darshan Academy Eco Club from class 9 students attended this workshop.
  • Students looked after a school garden and learned how to grow their own vegetables and plants.
  • Students focused on recycling in their day-to-day lives.
 
   
ROLI- POLI

In order to keep the school clean and green an effort is being made to manage the waste by reducing, reusing and recycling. Roli Poli is the devise used for converting biodegradable waste such as vegetable oil, food, scraps paper products and agricultural waste into compost, which is finally used for planting. It takes approximately 45 days to turn waste into compost. Students roll device, which has three chambers, as part of the process. A seminar on how to use Roli- Poli was conducted for eco-club members who will be maintaining it.
